Blitzing Istanbul

I made the most of my 10 hour layover in Istanbul by zipping into the city and seeing as much as possible before having to head back to the airport to catch my flight to Georgia (I was a little bit worried about missing my flight given the language barrier and lots of unknown about the transportation system). Istanbul is a sea of humanity packed with sights, tastes, and smells that ignite the senses.

In addition to window shopping, I was able to see the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet - under construction) and the Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya) as well as the Hippodrome and the Grand Bazaar. This city has some seriously old historical stuff. As for my taste buds, they got quite a treat of meze platter and a kebab and capped off with some gelato.

At the end of my trip, I will have another almost 10 hr layover in Istanbul, so I will plan to hit the Egyptian Spice Market and spend a little bit more time in the Grand Bazaar. Although it will be quite early in the morning, so I don't know what will be open. So, hopefully I will be able to get some more delicious food and soak in some more of Istanbul's awesomeness.
